Top-Line Results Of Boceprevir Phase II Study Showed High Rate Of Sustained Response (SVR) In Genotype 1 Treatment-Naive Hepatitis C Patients
Schering-Plough Corporation (NYSE: SGP) reported top-line results from a planned interim analysis of a Phase II study of boceprevir, its investigational oral hepatitis C protease inhibitor. The analysis showed a high rate of sustained virologic response (SVR) in patients receiving boceprevir-based combination therapy in this study of 595 treatment-naïve patients with chronic hepatitis C virus (HCV) genotype 1.

FDA Rejects Schering-Plough's Anaesthetic Drug Sugammadex NDA
The U.S. FDA has issued a non-approvable letter to Schering-Plough regarding the U.S. firm's New Drug Application (NDA) for sugammadex sodium. The product (also marketed under the brand Bridion) is a selective relaxant binding agent that reverses the effects of neuromuscular blockade by rocuronium in general anaesthesia. In a press statement, Schering-Plough has said that the FDA's concerns over the drug are related to hypersensitivity or allergic reactions.
