Evotec AG said it has reached an agreement with Roche Holdings AG to jointly discover and develop drugs for central nervous system (CNS) diseases and other illnesses, under which it could receive milestone payments of over 100 mln eur.
Additionally, Evotec will receive royalties from the sale of any products. So far, the two companies have collaborated on service agreements and in-licensing of CNS drugs, but will now pull their respective drug discovery expertise together in the hope of developing new drugs. Roche and Evotec will work together on projects up to clinical development, at which stage Roche will have exclusive rights to the development of the drug candidates.
